![]() This was done because of the striking similarities in symbolism, principles and even Ritual between the two Fraternities. In an unprecedented move for the fraternal community, Phi Sigma Kappa Grand Chapter and Phi Sigma Epsilon National Fraternity formally announced on August 14th, 1985 that the two National Headquarters had reached an agreement to merge all chapters of Phi Sigma Epsilon under the name Phi Sigma Kappa. It is not clear to us when exactly the original Phi Sigma Kappa chapter folded, but it was in the late 1970's. Phi Sigma Kappa was introduced to UW-Milwaukee in 1949, and both Phi Sigma Kappa and Phi Sigma Epsilon coexisted on UW-Milwaukee campus for close to ten years. Phi Sigma Kappa was originally founded as a chartered chapter of Phi Sigma Epsilon National Fraternity in 1921, and was also the first fraternity to be formed at UW-Milwaukee. We resolve to instill in each member a devotion to those values which will guide him to ends that are noble and right, so that in all that he represents and in all that he does, he shall be known as a man of honor who inspires others by his example and thus wins admiration and respect for himself and for Phi Sigma Kappa. Honor is the basis of fraternal relationships. Complementing the mission of higher education, we seek to help our members to combine formal and informal learning experience to more fully appreciate the importance of both theoretical and practical knowledge and, by broadening their understanding of human relationships, to produce men of wisdom who will be better prepared to make positive contributions to society and all mankind. We promise to set an example of true brotherhood not only in our relations with each other, but in our association with people everywhere. ![]() Justice, harmony, and brotherly love are essential to the spirit of fraternity. ![]()
